Can exposure to EMF radiation cause anxiety?

EMF radiation from all our technology, gadgets, Wi-Fi, and cell towers can trigger anxiety.  Usually, we assume that if we feel anxious, there must be something in our life that feels unsettled. The fact that for the past two years, everyone has been impacted, in one way or another, by the Covid/vaccine situation, has been a convenient “go-to” excuse for feeling a little anxious. With every passing month, we are resuming “normal” activities.

Are you experiencing anxiety?

After researching the causes of anxiety, one little examined cause is Electromagnetic Radiation. And yet, if we look a little closer, we see that EMF radiation has become a background frequency that exists nearly everywhere on our planet. In your own life, are you using:

Most of us will say yes to at least some of these sources of EMF radiation.

Research on EMF Radiation, Your Brain, and Anxiety

Research has found that radio-frequency electromagnetic waves, also known as electromagnetic radiation, affect several parts of our brains. When we use our cell phones (or portable phones), it’s likely the frequency band our conversations move through is 2.5GHz. Researchers decided this would be a great frequency to test to see how we might be affected when using our portable or our cellphones? After all, most of us text numerous times every day and make many calls on our phones. Are we at risk? The rats will tell us!

What the Rats Tell us about EMF and Anxiety

Let’s look at a study done in 2017. The researchers wanted to see what would happen if rats were exposed to 2.5GHz radiation.1  The animals were divided into four groups. The first group had no EMF exposure, and the other three were exposed to a WiFi device emitting 2.5GHz for 4, 6, and 8 weeks respectively. The results showed that exposure did produce anxiety and a decrease in locomotor function. Are these two issues related? Yes, there are!

How does EMF radiation trigger anxiety and problems with movement?

The reason that locomotion, i.e., movement, was affected in the rats is that the EMF radiation decreased acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity. ACHe handles many of the functions we don’t consciously control.

EMF radiation disrupted the “off” switch or the smooth muscles - rats were agitated!

Your muscles are not supposed to fire all the time! However, this study found that the EMF radiation disrupted the “off” part of the AChE. Muscles were firing when they shouldn’t have, and nerves that tell the muscles to work were not getting turned off. The rat study resulted in visible agitation, sweating, hypersalivation, and poorly coordinated muscles.

The rat study and agitation - connected?

Let’s keep in mind that the rats had limited exposure to the 2.5GHz frequencies for ten minutes each time; shorter than most cellphone calls! If the rats are unhappy after just weeks of this exposure, is it possible that our anxiety crisis (worldwide) may have a relationship with our WiFi, our excessive smartphone use – and our exposure to more and more EMF radiation?

Too much EMF radiation affects humans too!

Only a year later, in 2018, another study found that exposure to EMF radiation in certain industries affected workers in several important quality of life measurements - anxiety, stress, depression, and sleep quality.
The idea was to target individuals, by virtue of their professions, who were exposed to EMF radiation during their workweek. There were 132 power plant workers that were included in the exposed group. The other 143 workers were not exposed and they served as the control group. The conclusion was clear-cut! The exposed group compared to the control group experienced:

How can You Reduce Your Own Anxiety?

  1. Find out if you are sensitive to EMF by taking a free EMF Exposure Quiz. After you complete the quiz, choose to have the results sent to your email, and you’ll get a detailed recommendation for EMF protection (if you need it). SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE TO FIND A DESCRIPTION OF THIS QUIZ - ON THE LEFT-HAND SIDE OF THE PAGE

  2. Find out if you might also be reacting to other people’s energy. You would then take the Highly Sensitive Person Quiz (empath). If you choose to have the results emailed, you’ll also get a detailed report in 5 different areas of emotional sensitivity. SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE TO FIND A DESCRIPTION OF THIS QUIZ - ON THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE OF THE PAGE

  3. If you are experiencing anxiety, it’s possible your body is telling you that EMF is affecting your body, and possibly contributing to other symptoms. We are happy to work with you to reduce your exposure to EMF.

  4. If you are a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) or Empath you may also be picking up on the anxiety and fears of others or feel overwhelmed by their emotions and that combined with EMF sensitivity can have a huge impact.

What a dramatic change in just a few months! “I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my emotional sensitivities. I’m yet to experience a full-on anxiety attack, only little flutters that last for less than 20 mins. There have been a few moments of greater discomfort, and only then do I realize I’m not wearing my Shield!” December 9, 2016 by Amy

Relief from PTSD, anxiety attacks, and insomnia.“These pendants have completely changed my life. I’d been dealing with severe PTSD for almost two years. I started with the brushed silver with brass tabs (Level 2), and it was amazing….Wearing the Shield, I found my system much more regulated. I wasn’t thrown off-kilter by every little thing. I wasn’t a raw nerve anymore. Further proof was a day when I left it at a lake. I didn’t realize I’d forgotten it until the next morning. But that night, I’d been back to major insomnia and anxiety attacks. When I realized I didn’t have the pendant in the morning, it all made sense. I ordered the shiny silver one and am still wearing it. I wish I could buy one of these for every sensitive person I know who is struggling in this world! September 4, 2015 by Kristin

More focused, less anxiety“I have noticed that when wearing the Shield my thoughts are more focused. And also an improvement in overcoming stress, anxiety and a related spleen problem.” July 25, 2000 by John M.

Simple Tips to Reduce EMF Exposure

  1. Reduce WiFi radiation from your router at home: Use a timer so that it goes off at bedtime, and comes on again in the morning. This means you won’t have your router WiFi signals coming into bedrooms while your body is sleeping. Sleep is when your body conducts “rest and repair” functions, so you don’t want your immune system busy with protecting yourself from EMF radiation. Instead, your body can be in a healing process at night.

  2. Reduce EMF During Sleep - Keep all electronics out of the bedroom. If you need an alarm clock, a plug-in alarm clock can be kept five feet from your head. Your bedroom will be an EMF-free zone.

  3. Use airplane mode on your electronics when possible.

  4. Try not to use many WiFi-enabled devices at once. If you have multiple items streaming or downloading content from the internet, this can seriously intensify your exposure to radiation.

  5. Do not carry your cellphone in your pocket unless it’s in an anti-radiation pouch.

  6. Do not hold your phone up to your head while speaking on your phone. Recent studies have connected this habit with the formation of brain tumors directly across from the ear where the phone has been held repeatedly.
