Do you think your cordless phone is safe?
“Of course it is…right? Right?”
Sadly, No. It’s actually about as safe as putting a cell tower in your living room.
There is danger femfrom cordless phones that most people aren’t aware of. Many of us who use a cordless phone at home think we are reducing our exposure to EMF by not spending as much time on our cell phones.
Harley Street physician Dr. David Dowson says: “Having a cordless phone is like having a mobile mast in your house.”I’d recommend anyone who has one to switch to a plug-in phone.”
The bad news is that Swedish researchers have found that cordless phones also raise the risk of developing cancer.
They found that brain cancer risk was multiplied for those who used DECT cordless phones…and the risk was even higher for those who combined the two.
Did you know that the level of radiation from your base station (this is the main part of the phone system) can be a significant source of radiation, even more so than the radiation near cell phone towers?
Truthfully, this was shocking news to me. Your cordless phones emit radiation both from the phone (handset) as well as from the base, even when the phone isn’t being used. This radiation is being beamed throughout your house constantly.
Safety standards haven’t kept up with our technology usage
We’ve moved from fairly innocuous low-power cordless phones to a much higher frequency – many of the new phones operating at 5.8 gigahertz. If you’re like me you like to think that safety standards are in place to provide protection…well the problem with this is that our phone usage has escalated so quickly that there hasn’t really been time to do a lot of research.
The other problem is that most research is on studies that track usage, radiation levels and cancer, and other issues over a long period of time, 10, 20, 30 even 40 years. I’m sure you’ve heard me say this before….remember when tobacco, asbestos, DDT, and a number of other chemicals that are now known to be toxic were considered safe. Over long-term exposure, the truth finally came out and steps were taken to reduce our exposure, or at least put warnings in place.
One prime factor in exposure is the length of exposure and proximity to the radiation source. Many of us go to bed with our cordless phone or cell phone on our nightstand or sit at our desk, relax in the living room, etc with the phone and even the base station right next to us….zapping us continually.
Once you’ve moved away from dragging that long cord around the room, it’s hard to imagine going back to those days.
You can reduce exposure by changing to a lower EMF or eco-DECT cordless model. These new phones still emit radiation, but at much lower levels and the base doesn’t emit radiation when the phone is not in use. One example of this new type of phone is a Siemens Gigaset Designer Digital Phone. You will, however, need to configure the settings so that it isn’t operating as a normal cordless phone, and emitting constantly. You can use an RF meter or one of the new apps on your smartphone, to check the radiation levels for yourself.
What can you do to Mitigate the Danger from Cordless Phones?
Wear a personal BioElectric Shield.
Hang a Room Shield in the room with the base station.
Use Aulterra Neutralizer stickers on the base station and the phone.
Put the phone in one of SYB’s cell phone pouches when laying near you (of course this doesn’t work when you’re charging the phone)
Spray the phone and base station with AegisGuard plant-based Anti Radiation EMF Spray.
Just like with a cellphone – use the speakerphone instead of holding the phone to your ear.
