How to Recharge & Care for YOUR BioElectric Shield
If you imagine your Shield as a vehicle, then think of the sun as fuel. Without fuel, your Shield will fade in effectiveness – and eventually, stop working. At the beginning of each new month, it’s time to recharge your Shield. This is the most critical part of owning a Shield – it is ESSENTIAL to charge your Shield monthly. It will last for years when you do this.
Wearing Your Shield
General Instructions include how to wear, how to re-tie the cord, showers, washing machines, etc.

Want to give the Shield to someone else? Here’s what you need to know about recharging and energy clearing
Wearing Your BioElectric Shield
It’s best to be consistent with where you wear your Shield, as it creates a vortex of energy around you. The center of this vortex is determined by the location of the Shield. If you move it from a heart location to a pocket, the Shield will need to recreate the vortex with a new center point each time. While the Shield will do this, you may want to recharge it more often if you frequently change its location.
One exception is the wristband style, which easily accommodates the movement of your wrist and maintains the protective vortex.
Many people prefer wearing the Shield over their heart, using our cord, a chain, or a beaded necklace. Alternatively, you can carry it in a pocket, belt pouch, or loop it around a bra strap or belt loop.
You can wear your Shield during the day or all the time. We recommend removing it at bedtime and placing it on your bedside table or hanging it nearby. As long as it’s within 2-3 feet of you, it will still work with your energy field.
Occasionally, it's beneficial to leave it farther away at night to allow your energy field to reinforce the Shield’s pattern from the day.
Important: Please do not yank the cord over your head to remove the Shield. Pulling too hard on the cord can cause the top loop to bend, which could result in your Shield eventually falling off the cord.
You can wear the Shield under or over your clothing with equal effectiveness.
Tying The Cord
About the Knot
To keep your Shield secure on the cord, it’s important to tighten the cord every time you put it on. A little care and attention will ensure it stays in place.
Secure, Non-Adjustable Knot
If you plan to wear the Shield at your heart and don't want to adjust the length often, a simple knot will work. Hold both ends of the cord in one hand, make a loop around your fingers, then pull the ends through the loop. Don’t tighten it yet—slide the loop up or down to adjust the length, and once it’s at the right length, pull tightly. To make it even more secure, pull the cords just below the knot to tighten further. Do this every time you put your Shield on.
Adjustable Sliding Knot
This knot may seem complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s simple. You can either do two wraps around or just one for a simpler knot.
You can do this with either a leather or satin cord or any other material you have.
Here is a video showing our favorite sliding knot.
Avoid Losing Your Shield by Checking Your Knot
We've had customers call us after losing their Shield because they thought a single knot would hold forever. Unfortunately, that’s not the case, which is why it’s important to regularly check your cord knot.
Inspect for Wear
Check your cord for signs of wear, such as fraying or thinning. If the cord looks worn, it’s time to replace it! You can purchase replacement cords from us.
Fraying or Worn Cord? Replace It Immediately
If your cord is starting to fray or shows any signs of wear, replace it right away. You don’t want to risk losing your Shield, and we want to help you avoid that too!
The Shower – Washing Machines – Swimming
The Shower
Your Shield is built to last—it’s soldered together at 1400 degrees Fahrenheit and is fully waterproof. You can safely wear it in the shower, or while swimming in the ocean or a lake. However, keep in mind that chlorinated pools will tarnish a silver Shield in just minutes.
Swimming in a Pool
Chlorinated water can cause your Shield to tarnish or darken. If this happens, simply polish it using the instructions below.
Swimming in the Ocean
Saltwater and sand can damage your jewelry. Seawater is corrosive and may leave a residue that needs to be cleaned off. We recommend rinsing your Shield under running water to remove any grit before polishing it.
Washing Machines
If your Shield accidentally goes through the wash, simply recharge it the next day. The crystal matrix is embedded in a protective material that makes it resistant to high heat or extreme cold. However, avoid putting it in the dryer, as the heat can be harsh on the finish.
Polishing Your BioElectric Shield
When to polish
We recommend polishing your Shield occasionally. While tarnishing doesn’t impact its performance, it looks nicer when free of tarnish. The most important thing you can do for your Shield is to recharge it regularly.
What Kind of Polishing Cloth to Use
Sunshine polishing cloths are ideal for polishing your Shield. They quickly remove tarnish, although they may leave a residue on your hands. These cloths are not washable because the cleaning compound is embedded in the fabric.
Using Ordinary Silver Polish
If you prefer, you can use regular silver polish or natural methods to remove tarnish. For a mirror-like finish on your Shield, we recommend using a cream polish or polishing cloth, as they leave a protective layer. We suggest avoiding silver tarnish dips, as they can remove this protective finish.
Silver Tarnish Dips
Tarnish dips work quickly to remove tarnish, but they should be used carefully. After dipping, wash your Shield in warm water and dry it completely. Follow up with a light polish using a cloth to remove any water spots or residue and give it a nice finish. This method works well for both polished and satin finishes.
Polishing and Caring for Your BioElectric Shield
Restoring a Satin Finish Shield
To restore the satin, textured finish of your Shield, use our Polishing Kit. The kit includes a buffing pad specifically designed for satin finishes. After using the cloth to remove tarnish, the buffing pad will help bring back the matte look. While you can use other abrasive pads, they may cause your Shield to appear gray. If you prefer a shinier look, skipping the matte buffing pad will gradually give your Shield a more polished appearance over time.
Brass Shields
For brass Shields, you can use our Polishing Kit or Brasso (available at most grocery stores) to clean and restore the surface.
Tarnishing and Its Causes
Both brass and silver Shields can tarnish over time. While tarnishing doesn’t affect the Shield’s performance, it’s natural for it to occur. The rate at which tarnishing happens depends on various factors, such as lotions, perfumes, and your body’s pH level. Humidity, heat, and even stress can also accelerate tarnishing. Many users notice their Shield tarnishing more quickly during periods of stress or initial balancing, which may be due to the Shield working harder or changes in the pH balance of the skin.
To clean tarnish, we recommend using our Sunshine polishing cloths, which are the best available for this purpose. Alternatively, you can use commercial silver or brass polish.
Recharging Your BioElectric Shield At Home
To Keep Your Shield Recharge 100% Hang It In Daylight Monthly
OUTDOOR
Outdoor charging is ideal if you have a secure place (see below)
- 3 hours if it’s sunny
- 6 hours if it is cloudy
INDOOR
Indoor charging – You can hang from a nail or hook above the window, a suction cup with a hook on the window, or put the stand in the window.
- 6 hours if it’s sunny
- 8 hours if it is cloudy
You can charge it more often if you feel you have been around a large amount of EMF or have experienced a lot of stress.
- You can charge it more often if you feel you have been around a large amount of EMF or have experienced a lot of stress.
- Note: If you have 5G in your area or very high EMF exposure you may want to recharge more frequently.
What if it's cloudy?
The sun's energy will still reach your Shield through the clouds, so you don't need to wait for a sunny day. However, full sunlight is ideal for optimal charging.
Where to hang it?
Hang your Shield in a location where it will receive continuous exposure to natural light. If it’s sunny, hang it outside for 3 hours; if it’s cloudy, charge it for 6 hours. If you have access to a secure outdoor space, hanging it outside is the best option. Be sure to secure the Shield by tying or looping it around something, as squirrels and birds have been known to take unsecured Shields.
Hanging It in a Window
If outdoor hanging isn’t possible, you can install a hook inside your window to hang the Shield so it dangles freely, not flat against the window or resting on a sill. We recommend letting it charge for 8 hours when using a window.
Gifting The Shield
If you wish to pass on a Shield you’re no longer using, it’s important to clear any energy from the previous wearer. To do this, follow the recharging instructions outlined here.
Super Charge Instructions
Super Charging Your Shield
To fully recharge your Shield, follow these super charge instructions. The duration of sun exposure depends on the conditions:
- Outdoor Charging (Full Sun): Place your Shield in direct sunlight for 3 hours a day, for 6 consecutive days.
- Outdoor Charging (Cloudy): Charge your Shield for 6 hours a day, for 6 consecutive days.
If you can only charge your Shield indoors:

This process will bring your Shield back to 100%.
When to Send Your Shield for
a Recharge in Our Powerful Crystal Circle
If you've charged your Shield in the sun for six days and it still feels less powerful than usual, or if you're concerned about its energy, send it to us for a full, deep recharge in our crystal circle. We'll also give it a thorough polish to ensure it’s in top condition.
Methods That Do Not Recharge Your Shield
Please note the following methods do not recharge your Shield:
- Reiki
- Laser pens
- Full spectrum lights
- Other crystals
Despite any claims you may hear, these methods won’t recharge your Shield. The only effective way to recharge your Shield at home is by hanging it in natural sunlight.
Precautions
It’s perfectly fine to charge your Shield more frequently!
To keep it at 100% power for life, simply recharge it regularly in the sun.
Your Shield cannot be charged with grow lights, full-spectrum lights, pyramids, crystals, energy devices, or saltwater. It does not absorb negative energy, so it never needs to be cleared or cleansed—just recharged by exposure to natural daylight. Even on cloudy days, your Shield will still recharge effectively.
Recharge Questions
Is charging the Shield for 2 hours over 3 days as effective as one 6-hour charge?
For the best results, it’s recommended to charge your Shield for 3 continuous hours if it's sunny, or 6 continuous hours if it’s cloudy.
Does the Shield benefit from random charging, like an hour here and there?
Yes, your Shield will still benefit from occasional charging. You can wear it outside your clothing and charge it throughout the day. However, we still recommend hanging it outside for several hours at a time once a month for optimal recharging.
Does the Shield Adapt to the
Changing Earth Frequency, or the Schumann Resonance?
The Earth’s frequency, also known as the Schumann Resonance, is said to be shifting as the collective consciousness of its inhabitants evolves. As human consciousness rises, the planet’s frequency aligns with this change.
The quartz in your Shield’s crystal matrix is connected to the global network of quartz crystals on Earth. These crystals vibrate in harmony, meaning any changes in one crystal affect the entire network, including those in your Shield. As the Earth’s frequency shifts, the crystals in the Shield adapt to the new polarity, bringing it into harmony with your body. (Fun fact: your body contains the same minerals as quartz!)
This ability to stay precisely in tune with the Earth’s polarity is one of the most remarkable features of the BioElectric Shield. Since it’s recharged by the energy of the sun, it remains in sync with the relationship between the sun’s magnetic field and the Earth’s magnetic field, ensuring continuous alignment with the planet’s ever-changing energy.
This quote below from an article is a great description of how the energies change. The Shield changes right along with all of these field shifts.
“Every 11 years, the strength of this magnetic field gradually decreases to zero, then emerges in the opposite direction, as part of the solar cycle. It’s as if, here on Earth, compasses pointed towards the Arctic as “North” for 11 years, then briefly wavered, then pointed towards Antarctica as “North” for the next 11 years (in fact, the Earth’s magnetic field does reverse as well, but it occurs with much less regularity and takes a few hundred thousand years to do so).”
Are there other Ways to Recharge my Shield?
Can I charge my Shield with saltwater or full-spectrum lights?
No, these methods do not recharge your Shield. The only way to recharge your Shield is by hanging it outside in natural sunlight or in a window where it can receive daylight.
Does the Shield need to be cleansed or pick up negative energy?
No, the Shield does not pick up negative energy. When you wear it, it focuses on balancing and protecting your energy by deflecting negative energy away from you. This process requires energy, which is why your Shield needs to be recharged, but it never needs to be “cleansed.”
Symbols and Markings on Your Shield
Each Shield is carefully handcrafted, and our Shield Makers sign their work by stamping a unique symbol on the back of the Shield, opposite the top loop. Here’s what the markings mean:
- .925 stamp: Indicates pure sterling silver.
- 14k or .585: Represents pure 14k gold.
- ADD/Focus Shield: An "A" is stamped on the back.
- Custom Shields: A "C" is stamped for custom designs.
